     The most direct route to Ellicottville may be the U.S. 219 corridor, but the most memorable way to experience the colorful rolling hill vistas and unique shops starts at Gowanda Harley-Davidson.

Turn right out of the driveway and follow Gowanda Zoar Rd. deep into the creek bed of Zoar Valley.  Turn right at the first bridge (N. Otto Rd., CR11) and notice the New York State Fishing Access point.  This is the launching point for white water rafting on the Cattaraugus in the spring, but now you're likely to watch fly fisherman float fishing for prized lake trout.

Pay attention on the steep, twisty incline out of Zoar Valley on North Otto Rd. and you'll notice Buttermilk Falls cascading beneath the road.  Continue to enjoy the spectacular hillsides in the distance as you approach the town of Otto.

In Otto turn left onto Otto-Maples Rd. (CR13).  Tucked away in the valleys you'll find lush farms and artisan studios.  The natural setting lends itself to artistic inspiration.

At the crossroads in Maples turn right and continue to follow Maples-Ellicottville Rd. (CR13).  As you approach Ellicottville from the north, take a look to the beautiful hilltop chalets and imagine about returning for winter retreat.

Ellicottville is a town best walked.  So drop the jiffystand near the center of town and enjoy the dining, shopping and night life of one the of top ski resort towns in the Northeast.  FYI - it's a little known secret the rest of the year too!

What To Ride
Heritage Softail Classic.  You'll be a long ways away from the nearest x-mart and franchised strip.  So let your ride reflect the laid back and friendly feel of the region.  Sit back, keep the throttle at 45mph and remember that in life, you set the pace.
