Getting Started

You want to ride, but not sure how to start?  Gowanda Harley-Davidson turns motorcycling dreams into reality everyday.

Get Your Permit.  Obtaining a Motorcycle Learners Permit in New York State requires a trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles.  If you qualify  to obtain a permit, study the Motorcycle Operator's Manual and pass the corresponding exam.

Enroll In School.  Motorcycling takes trained skill and education.  We recommend the New York State Approved Basic Rider Course offered by Ride With P.R.I.D.E., 716-542-3808.  Co-Owner and Rider Coach, Rebecca Grela explains the course, with Gowanda Harley-Davidson, in this special broadcast of WDOE 1410AM - Business Spotlight.  Click here to play. (.mp3 5.95MB)

A New York State Motorcycle Learners Permit is required.  They supply the bikes and riding gear, you supply the enthusiasm.  Upon completion and passing the course you are given a waiver to take to DMV and issued your motorcycle license.  Enrollment forms are available at Gowanda Harley-Davidson.  Reserve your spot early as classes fill quickly!

Find Your Style.  Once you're licensed to ride, learn about the five families of Harley-Davidson motorcycles.  Then come to the dealership and try out our demo models*.

Make It Happen.  We'll be glad to review model availability, financing and insurance, plus Extended Service Plan options.  While you're here be sure to spend some time with our expert parts staff and Genuine MotorClothes Riding Gear associates to custom build the Harley-Davidson motorcycle and lifestyle you've been dreaming of.  Why should you buy from Gowanda Harley-Davidson?  We'll let our customers answer that.

Join The Club.  You're well on your way to riding and having fun.  That's just what the members of the Southern Tier, NY Chapter of the Harley Owners Group do all season long.  Sponsored in part by Gowanda Harley-Davidson.

Who's Making It Happen
Riding A Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Isn't Something You Do Later In Life.  It's An Experience You Live Today.  Here's stories of young riders living their lives & making it happen...
Team Emerica
The Brotherhood of Bikes & Boards.
What does the world's top skateboarding team have to do with motorcycles?  They are huge Harley-Davidson fans.  And they ride hard!  June 2006 -  Denver to Chicago with nothing but their boards and camping gear, stopping at skate shops along the way.  It was dubbed the Wild Ride.  Their experience was documented in the Feb. 07 issue The Skateboard Mag, complete with DVD.

Academy of Country Music® Motorcycle Ride
Country Music's Biggest Ride™

ENCINO, CA (Feb. 26, 2007) - For the fourth time in the Motorcycle Rides history, Montgomery Gentry will host the Academy of Country Music Celebrity Motorcycle Ride to be held on Sunday, May 13, 2007.

The Academy of Country Music Motorcycle Ride will kick-off from one of the largest Harley-Davidson dealerships, Las Vegas Harley-Davidson. The riders will cruise through Nevada's vast desert oasis and up along snowy mountain tops until they reach their final destination, the world famous Fremont Street. The sun will be begin to set upon a concert extravaganza that will feature past and present Academy of Country Music Award nominees and some of country's best new artists.

"I love that this is me and Troy's fourth year to host this event," said Eddie Montgomery. "It's something I look forward to every year - watching it grow and attract new people each time and raise more money for the ACM Charitable Fund. The Fund is unbelievable with what all they have been able to do, and I'm happy to be a part of it!"

"We first kicked-off the ride four years ago when Bob Romeo asked Eddie and I to host the event, and it's been incredible to watch it grow from 100 bikes to over 1,500 bikes," said Troy Gentry. "Not to mention it's impressive that these amazing people and fellow artists donate their time and money for such a worthy cause and charity. I'm flattered to say I'm involved."
